The Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils (SALSC) was established in 1978 as the umbrella body for Sports Councils in Scotland. At that time there were a small number of Sports Councils established, the oldest and first Sports Council set up in Scotland was East Kilbride Sports Council who were set up in 1967 and are still going strong today.
