Scottish ClubSport partner with Harper Macleod LLP

Harper Macleod confirmed as `Headline Partner` for the 2021 Scottish ClubSport conference

Scottish ClubSport are pleased to confirm that leading law firm Harper Macleod LLP is supporting this year`s annual conference titled `Recovery: the importance of community and club sport` which will take place on Saturday 25th September at the Stirling Court Hotel.

As well as being one of Scotland's leading full-service law firms, Harper Macleod has been recognised as the country's No.1 sports lawyers for almost 30 years.

The firm's specialists advise on every aspect of the law as it relates to sport, from individual disciplinary matters to major events such as the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and the Glasgow 2018 European Championships – both of which saw the firm appointed as Official Legal Advisers.

Two members of the firm’s sports law team, Senior Associate Kelly Fraser and Senior Solicitor Andrew Maxwell, will address the conference on some of the legal issues that our clubs and sports may face, lessons that can be learned from recent cases, and the hot topics for the coming months and years.

Kelly Fraser, who works closely with sportscotland and advises on a broad range of matters including data protection, charity law, commercial contracts, regulatory and compliance issues. said: “We are delighted to be supporting this year’s Scottish ClubSport conference which is set to be a fantastic event. Clubs and the communities they operate in are the lifeblood of sport in Scotland, particularly in the Covid environment of the past 18 months. We have a track record of assisting clubs and sports governing bodies on every kind of legal issue that can crop up, and more importantly passing on our knowledge so that issues are less likely to crop up in the first place.”

Harper Macleod is committed to a partnership approach which ensures they have a positive impact on their own people, those they work with, the communities in which they operate, and their natural environment.

With a team of almost 400 people across a unique office footprint in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Thurso, Elgin and Lerwick, Harper Macleod provides a complete range of legal services for business, individuals & families, the public sector, and the modern rural economy in Scotland, the UK and beyond.

Gary Grieve (National Development Manager, Scottish ClubSport) added: “We are excited to be working in partnership with Harper Macleod and thank them for their support towards this year’s conference. At Scottish ClubSport, our mission is to bring ClubSport networks and Sports Councils together to deliver an outstanding support system across Scotland and through the support of Harper Macleod, we will be able to reach more people and organisations across the wider Scottish sports landscape as we help the sector recover from the pandemic”
